Coal Mining

We mine responsibly.
We reclaim our land.

Osho started as an exporter of high ash / off spec coal products from South Africa in 2009 and was an early player to access the Richards Bay Dry Bulk Terminal for the export of coal. The operations in South Africa have been integrated over the years. Initially our business only concentrated on sourcing and shipping, but with our expertise gained over the years, we will start mining ourselves. The Group has a controlling interest in a mining company with a JORC resource base of 294 million tons in the Klip River coalfield in South Africa, supported by 2 wash plants with a combined capacity of 350 tons per hour and 2 railway sidings.

Mining is a highly dangerous and risky business for the site workers as the percentage of work place hazards and diseases are optimum. Safety is one of the key values which Osho marches on, so it makes sure that every worker is safe. We undertake activities to enhance the physical and mental wellbeing of our employees. Periodic medical surveillances are conducted to detect signs of potential illness at an early stage, and assist our people in the recovery and management of illness that is a result of exposure at our workplace. We consistently try to enhance our safety measures by interactive sessions with the employees as they are the driving force of our company’s success.

Being a natural resource company, we are responsible towards the environment and take land reclamation very seriously. Osho ensures that the mined land is restored to its natural productive state which can be used for commercial or agricultural purposes.
